4. Accommodation Options

International students under 18 years old are required to reside with a parent holding a guardian visa or an approved caregiver. Accommodation options are determined based on the student's enrolled school year. If students are not living with a parent or an approved relative designated by the Department of Home Affairs, they will be accommodated in facilities approved by the Australian Department of Education. What is Homestay Accommodation?

​Homestay accommodation offers international students a valuable experience to fully immerse themselves in Australian culture by living with a local family. Homestay arrangements can involve individuals, couples, or entire families. Students will receive a warm reception at Sydney International Airport and continuous support from their caring host family throughout their academic journey.

** All homestay families have undergone a Working With Children Check (WWCC) and are supervised by a registered homestay provider under DE International.

Homestay Services

​Homestay providers offer students:

  • A private and fully furnished bedroom in a family's home, complete with a bed, study table, chair, and storage space.

  • Provision of all meals, including the option to prepare lunch for school days.

  • Access to household amenities, such as laundry facilities.

As members of the homestay family, students are expected to participate in household responsibilities, such as maintaining their bedroom and assisting with tasks like clearing the table after meals.

​Parent-nominated Homestay

​Parents have the option to nominate a distant family member or a close family friend as a caregiver. The nominated homestay caregiver must undergo assessment by DE International and meet the required minimum standards before approval can be granted.
